Nirupama returns from retirement

NEW DELHI: Former champion Nirupama Sanjeev has been given a wild card for the $50,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament to be played at the Deccan Gymkhana, Pune, from November 16.

The 33-year-old Nirupama had last played in a professional tournament in July 2003, and has been based in the U.S. after marriage.

The three other wild cards have been given to Rashmi Teltumbe, Prerna Bhambri and 15-year-old Uzbek Sabina Sharipova. — Special Correspondent
