Tense moments at airport

A Correspondent

Nedumbassery: The Cochin international airport witnessed some tense moments on Friday as the passengers of an Air India Express flight which had been diverted from Mangalore protested against the airline’s decision not to resume its journey.

The flight, operating in the Mangalore-Dubai sector landed here at 7.10 a.m. with 142 passengers on board after being diverted from Mangalore due to bad weather. The airline had made arrangements to give passengers food. The situation worsened by noon after a decision to discontinue the service was made owing to duty hour limitations of the crew members. However, the annoyed passengers stuck to their demand that they be taken to Mangalore by the same flight and refused to get off the aircraft. The protests lasted for a few hours and the issue was resolved finally by the evening with the passengers agreeing to be accommodated in another flight to Mangalore.
