Works to improve the appearance of buildings to be taken up VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority will take up the works to improve the appearance and heritage values of Mrs. AVN College buildings with Rs.3 crores. On the advice of the State Government and in response to representations made by the College management and the local MLA Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, the Vice-Chairman of VUDA, V.N. Vishnu agreed to take up the mission as per the provisions under the Master Plan of VUDA and other related guidelines. The buildings of Mrs. AVN College have been enlisted in the heritage structures in VUDA Master Plan and the college management has approached VUDA to take up protection of the heritage values of the building. The matter was also represented by the legislator and accordingly the government issued directions to VUDA to allocate the fund for the development of the college buildings. Mr. Vishnu has issued orders to the officials to prepare plans in coordination with the College management. The funds will be spent in three phases by releasing Rs.1 crore in each phase to complete the works. Mr. Srinivasa Rao who met Mr. Vishnu here on Friday discussed the phase-wise works to be taken up. MLA’s pleaThe MLA requested the Vice-Chairman to maintain the values and significance of the college as it is the one of the first and foremost college in the region. Mr. Vishnu instructed the Officer on Special Duty Y Ramesh and Superintendent Engineer I. Viswanatha Rao of VUDA to finalise the works in first phase before December and obtain approvals for starting. The MLA thanked the Vice Chairman for the interest and initiative.
