KADAPA: Excessive intake of food, particularly processed food, will lead to obesity and make a person vulnerable to chronic illnesses, Deputy Transport Commissioner Krishnaveni said here on Sunday. Speaking at a seminar on control of obesity through change in food habits and yoga at Mitra Yoga Centre here, she advised the people to consume conventional food rather than processed food and to strictly avoid fast foods. Naturopathy and yoga would help patients suffering from hypertension, asthma, diabetes, arthritis, mental disorders, menstrual disorders, skin ailments and various forms of cancer, Ms. Krishnaveni said. Mitra Holistic Health Society president R. Ranganatha Reddy said abdominal obesity could cause chronic illness. Practising yoga, asanas, pranayama, salutations to sun, meditation and shatkriyas would help reduce obesity, he said. Centre coordinator Kalpana and yoga instructor V. Siddhaiah participated.
