Karunakaran’s health improves further

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: The veteran Congress leader K Karunakaran’s health continued to improve, but doctors have recommended that he be kept under close observation and in the intensive care unit for some more time.

In a statement here on Monday, the Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute, where the senior leader is undergoing treatment, said that Mr. Karunakaran had started taking liquid food. He was being administered medicines for pneumonia and heart disease, and was undergoing physiotherapy. The intensive care treatment had been prescribed because he had allied health problems, but the medical team felt that there was no need for further examination, the statement said.
