SALEM: Collector J. Chandrakumar disbursed welfare assistance to the tune of Rs. 3.21 lakh to 39 beneficiaries during the public grievances redressal day meeting held here on Monday.

Calliper, walking sticks and hearing aids were distributed to the differently abled persons under the Vazhnthu Kattuvom scheme. A sum of Rs. 25,000 each was provided to eight persons who underwent heart surgery. A sum of Rs. 10,000 was provided to a differently abled person for taking up self-employment activity.

The Collector also distributed cash awards to the students studying in Project Smile special schools, who won the competitions conducted as part of the Children’s Day celebrations.
