Siddarth and Poorvisha S. Ram win titles

BANGALORE: S. Siddarth and Poorvisha S. Ram won the under-16 singles titles in the boys and girls’ sections respectively in the Ramesh Padukone-Mehul Sirur memorial inter-school badminton championship at Canara Union here.

S. Siddarth (National Public School) defeated Daniel Farid (Riverdale HS) 21-7, 21-19 while Poorvisha (Yenkay Education Society) beat Mira Mahadevan (Vidyashilp) 21-11, 21-12 to take the girls’ title.

The results (finals): Boys: Under-10: Amogh R. Gupta bt (Deccan HS) bt Ayush (Yenkay) 19-21, 21-14, 21-5. Under-12: Syed Saad (Florence HS) bt Rohan Kamath (Sudarshan VM) 21-17, 21-13. Girls: Under-10: Ashwini Bhat (DPS) bt Prarthana Anand (NAFL) 21-3, 21-5. Under-12: Mahima Agarwal (FAPS) bt Ashwini Bhat 21-13, 21-19. Under-14: Mira Mahadevan (Vidyashilp) bt Syeda Sadat Arsheen (Florence HS) 21-11, 21-19. Under-16: Poorvisha S. Ram (Yenkay) bt Mira Mahadevan 21-11, 21-12.

Dayanand posts win

Dayanand Sagar College defeated Atria Institute 44-24 in the Rahul Sebastian memorial inter-collegiate basketball tournament which got underway at Malleswaram courts on Monday.

In another match, St .Joseph’s PU College beat MES Composite College 29-21.

Nishit makes merry

Nishit’s unbeaten 189 helped Jain International Residential School (JIRS) defeat Sadvidya HS (Mysore) by 133 runs in a Boost Cup under-16 tournament’s second phase match on Monday.

The scores: JIRS 300 for seven in 50 overs (Nishit 189 n.o., Surana 30, Rakesh 28) bt Sadvidya HS (Mysore) 167 for nine in 50 overs (Sourab 47, Sachin 32 n.o., Raghib three for 16, Nishi three for 33).

Bishop Cotton Boy’s School 236 in 50 overs (Aaron Ajit 90, Karthikeyan 38 n.o., P.D. Rahul 36, Karan Singh 30, M. Hanumanth five for 35) bt KE Board’s School (Dharwad) 58 in 16.1 overs (Karthikeyan six for 27).

Ryan International Res. School 109 in 39.5 overs (Siddharth 44 n.o., Kuldeep Kumar three for 24, Nagender three for 28) lost to Rashtriya Military School 111 for two in 14.2 overs (Vineeth 49 n.o., Nagender 31 n.o.).

Acharya Institute prevails

Acharya Institute prevailed over Christ University ‘B’ 3-2 while Baldwin Methodist College ‘B’ outplayed United Mission 4-0 in the Rotary-KSFA inter-collegiate football tournament at BDFA Stadium here on Monday.
