VIJAYAWADA: Staff of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyala (JNV) in Krishna district went on a token strike on Monday in support of their demands. The strike was in response to a call given by the Joint Action Committee for the protest programme across the country. They submitted a memorandum to District Collector Peeyush Kumar, who is also ex officio chairman of the JNV’s VMC at Veleru in the district. All the employees participated in the strike, said the staff representatives. The Navodaya deplored that though the Navodaya system was residential in nature requiring round-the-clock services, the staff were not being provided the CCS pension of 1972 and gratuity. The other sister organisations were getting these benefits.
