Employment Office opened in Tirupur

Tirupur: Minister for Labour T.M. Anbarasan inaugurated the District Employment Office and a new academic block in the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) here on Tuesday.

Official sources said that the district employment office for the newly formed Tirupur district had been constituted by a Government Order with the staff core comprising District Employment Officer, two Junior Employment Officers, four assistants, one junior assistant, one record clerk, two typists and an office assistant.

On the day, A. Jyothimani assumed charge as the first District Employment Officer.

Mr. Anbarasan said that a total of 92,892 (47,957 male and 44,935 female) job seekers figured in the ‘live register’ at the employment exchanges in Coimbatore and Erode district and who originally hail from areas presently under Tirupur district, were relocated into the ‘live register’ created under the control of District Employment Office here. Of them, 47,623 (24,135 male and 23,488 female) candidates were regrouped from Coimbatore employment exchange while the rest from Erode District Employment Office.

Regional Deputy Director (Employment) A. Latha said that an ‘employment mela’ would be conducted on second Friday of every month at the Distirct Employment Office situated on Collectorate premises to help the unemployed youth get jobs in the private sector. Besides, study circle opened at the District Employment Office would offer free coaching to youth who were aspiring to take competitive examinations conducted by bodies like Union Public Service Commission and Railway Recruitment Board, among others.
