Seeking shelter: Members of the Rajya Dravida Maha Sabha staging a demonstration in Mysore on Tuesday. Mysore: Members of the Rajya Dravida Maha Sabha (RDMS) staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) on Tuesday seeking distribution of Ashraya houses to the needy. The members of the sabha said there were hundreds of Ashraya houses around the city which were yet to be distributed and the MCC could consider their distribution to the poor and the needy on lenient terms with provision of making payments by instalments. The memorandum pointed out that a majority of people who had been allotted Ashraya houses in Mysore had either mortgaged the house, rented it out or sold it at a higher rate in violation of the stipulation that for 10 years the house should not be sold, leased out or rented out. The members said in the memorandum that the authorities should cancel allotment made to persons who violated the law.
