Krishna district Youth Welfare Department is organising it VIJAYAWADA: Krishna district Youth Welfare Department will organise a bicycle yatra to promote cycling among people. The rally would begin on November 28 and reach the office of Commissioner of Youth Services in Hyderabad on December 2. Interested candidates should contact V. Satyanarayana on phone 94409-78939. Mr. Satyanarayana took part in the 570-km rally from Kulu Manali in Himachal Pradesh to Leh south pool in Jammu & Kashmir recently, according to Krishna District Youth Welfare Officer Velaga Joshi. Physical exerciseDr. Joshi said in a statement that the use of bicycle in India was gradually coming down following technological advances. Many people were interested in motorcycles. They were habituated to mechanised life and lacking any physical exercise. Cycling and walking would help one keep good health. There was a need to keep away from motor cycles for good health, he said. Eco protectionStressing the need for supply of more oxygen for healthy living, he urged the people to plant more saplings and protect the trees that could provide plenty of oxygen required for human beings. The people should take an oath that they would protect the environment, he felt.
