THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Centre for Continuing Education will open a centre at Ponnani in Malappuram district to train students for competitive examinations and provide details about job opportunities. An official release here on Thursday said the government had given administrative sanction for Rs.297.80 lakh to open the centre. Financial assistance to the tune of Rs.20.38 lakh had been sanctioned to start the work this year itself. The centre is being opened at the initiative of the Education and the Local Administration Ministers. The government has handed over one acre of land to the Centre for Continuing Education in Ponnani taluk for setting up the centre. The office of Chamravattom project too has been given for temporarily opening the centre. Students of north Kerala will now get a chance to undergo the training programme for civil services examination being conducted by the Kerala State Civil Service Academy. Experts from Delhi will interact with the students through video-conferencing.
