Emulate Rahul, APCC chief tells party men

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president D. Srinivas has advised party men, particularly the younger lot, to emulate the humble and down to earth approach of AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, if they want to grow in the party.

Referring to the observation made by Mr. Gandhi during his interaction with students in Vijayawada on Wednesday, Mr. Srinivas said such remarks only enhanced the stature of the Congress leader. Mr. Gandhi’s observation that he should not be treated as a special person only showed his maturity and dignity, he said in an informal talk with reporters here on Thursday. He said the AICC general secretary’s statement that people should not see him as Prime Ministerial candidate only proved his down to earth nature.

The APCC chief complimented Mr. Rahul Gandhi for holding an interaction with students instead of addressing public meetings. “Such interactions gives better opportunity for the people to express their views instead of listening to speakers alone,” he said and added that he too preferred such interactions.

Meanwhile, Mr. Srinivas will campaign in Yakutpura, Chandrayangutta, Bahadurpura and Musheerabad Assembly constituencies on Friday.
