LSP builds rooms in flood-hit village

Party adopts village for undertaking development

Most of houses damaged, 400 acres of land sand-cast


HYDERABAD: Lok Satta Party has set an example to others by constructing three additional rooms in an upper primary school in the flood ravaged Kesavaram village in Mahbubnagar district within a month of taking up the work.

The party had adopted the village in Aija mandal for undertaking all-round development following the trail of destruction left by floods in River Tungabhadra on October 2. Most of the 400 houses in the village with a population of 2,000 were damaged and 400 acres of land was sand-cast.

The party under took a comprehensive survey of devastation and problems in the village and submitted a report to the district Collector.

The party spokespersons disclosed that modern light weight construction methodology introduced by LCM India Private Ltd., was deployed to augment accommodation in the school. Qutbullapur constituency LSP secretary and company Managing Director stayed put in the village for more than a month to supervise construction.

The government however was yet to initiate construction of houses for flood victims promised by it.

The party also succeeded in getting five unauthorised liquor outlets shut down in the village and followed up with the Electricity Department authorities to get seven new transformers erected in place of damaged ones.

It also helped women borrowing money from private money lenders at exorbitant interest to access bank loans at three per cent interest.
