CD on nutrition, health released

HYDERABAD: A multilingual multi-media educational CD on nutrition and health, developed jointly by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was released by B. Sesikeran, Director, NIN, here on Thursday.
It was released at a pre-conference workshop organised as part of the two-day, 41st national conference of the Nutrition Society of India (NSI), beginning at NIN here on Friday.
The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Chronic diseases — the new pandemic’.
Giving an overview of the collaborative effort of both the institutes, C-DAC Hyderabad director, Sarat Chandra Babu, said the educational CD was part of the India Development Gateway Initiative of his centre.
Benefits
According to an NIN release, the CD would benefit a wide range of users such as health workers, students, nutritionists, dieticians and all those interested in nutrition. It is priced at Rs.150 and will be on sale in C-DAC, Hyderabad and publications counter at NIN soon.
About 800 scientists are participating in the two-day meet. The prestigious Gopalan Oration award will be conferred on K. Srinath Reddy, president, Public Health Foundation of India, on ‘ Public Health Nutrition in India: Moving from Science to Policy’ on Friday. Young scientists’ awards will be given away during the conference.
