CHENNAI: A 33-year-old man who drilled a hole in the wall of a jewellery shop in Triplicane and stole gold and silver items and jewellery worth Rs.12 lakh was arrested on Thursday. The stolen jewellery was seized from the accused, who is a first-time offender. Addressing mediapersons, Commissioner of Police T. The theft occurred on the night of November 8 at the shop on Bharati Salai. The accused was an autorickshaw driver in Vyasarpadi.
“He packed the entire loot in a suitcase and escaped to Pali. A special team which was formed gathered crucial evidence from a trash bin near the shop and tracked the accused,” Mr. Rajendran said.
