‘Supply coconut oil through ration shops’

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Congress (Jacob) leader T.M. Jacob on Friday urged the State government to permit the distribution of coconut oil through ration shops with a view to preventing a crash in coconut prices.

In a statement here, Mr. Jacob asked the government to consider giving subsidy for coconut oil similar to the Rs.15 subsidy given for sale of palm oil through ration shops.

This would increase the demand for coconuts and push up prices, he said.
