Pakistan-based terrorist groups plotting more attacks: Manmohan

Washington: As the first anniversary of November 2008 Mumbai attacks nears, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said he received intelligence inputs daily that suggest that Pakistan-based terrorists were plotting more 26/11-like strikes in India.

Terming “tragic” Islamabad’s use of terror as state policy, Dr. Singh said India was ready to resolve all outstanding issues with its neighbour on condition that Pakistan would not allow its territory to be used against India. In an interview to The Washington Post ahead of his state visit to the U.S., he said India was a victim of Pakistan-aided terrorism.

Daily reports

“Every day I receive intelligence reports saying that terrorists based in Pakistan are planning other similar acts [similar to 26/11],” he said in the interview that would be carried in the daily’s print edition on Sunday, the day of his arrival here.

Dr. Singh, however, asserted that Pakistan had “nothing to fear” from India, and it was a “tragedy” that Islamabad has come to the point of using terror “as an instrument of state policy.” — PTI
