CBI conducts searches

CHENNAI: Officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation’s Special Crime Branch conducted searches on the premises of a few companies supplying iron and steel materials to government departments here on Friday.

After registering a case against the company directors based on information that they had not paid Excise Duties, the CBI conducted the searches.

According to a press release, during the searches, large number of incriminating documents indicating the fraud committed to evade Excise Duties, rubber stamps used for preparing forged documents, various account details of the purported financial transactions and Rs.17 lakh cash were seized.
