KANNUR: A national seminar on “Topology and its applications in computer science and related areas” will be held on the Mangattuparamba campus here of Kannur University on November 25 and 26. The Department of Mathematical Sciences of the university is hosting the seminar, coinciding with its first anniversary, in association with the Kerala Mathematical Association. Mathematicians from across the country will participate. The organisers said here on Saturday that the proliferation of computers and advances in information technology had found renewed attention for many classical areas of mathematics. Digital topology and geometry, mathematical morphology and theory of frames were offshoots of this development.
