IFFI-2009 opens tomorrow

PANAJI: The International Film Festival of India (IFFI)-2009 will begin here on Monday with the screening of the Chinese historical drama “Wheat” by He Ping, while the festival will close on December 3 with the screening of the Spanish film “Broken Embraces” by Pedro Almodovar.

Veteran film actor Waheeda Rehman will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony, to be held at 5.30 on Monday evening. Actor Asin will light the ceremonial lamp and Malayalam star Mammootty will be the chief guest for the closing ceremony.

The 11-day long festival will witness the screening of nearly 300 films.
