TIRUCHI: Several parts of Tiruchi district experienced sharp showers on Sunday afternoon. The heavy downpour, though lasting just about 15 to 20 minutes, left some of the arterial roads inundated in the city.

The continuing sporadic rain in the district, has been largely welcomed by the farmers.

The rainfall has still been scanty in some of the dry belts of the district such as Thottiyam and Thathaiyengarpet unions.
