Symposium on tobacco from today

Sharing ideas: Central Tobacco Research Institute Director V Krishna Murthy addressing a press conference in Rajahmundry on Monday

Rajahmundry: The Central Tobacco Research Institute (CTRI) is organizing a national symposium on tobacco at JK Gardens here from November 24. About 400 delegates from all over the country are expected to take part in the three – day event, CTRI Director V Krishna Murthy told media persons on Monday.

Mr. Murthy who is also president of Indian Society of Tobacco Science, said the conference would discuss various issues related to tobacco production while laying due emphasis on ways to reduce the area under tobacco cultivation in tune with the World Health Organization’s directives.

Tobacco Board Chairman J Suresh Babu, Indian Tobacco Association President B Kotaiah and A.P Horticulture University Vice-Chancellor S.D. Sikhamani will be among other dignitaries taking part in the deliberations. Best Scientist will be awarded a 10 gram gold medal.
