Farmers stage dharna in front of sugar factory
SANGAREDDY: Scores of farmers staged a dharna in front of Ganapati Sugars near Sangareddy on Monday demanding that they be paid Rs. 2,300 per tonne for the sugar supplied in addition to harvesting and transport charges. The agitation was organised by Bharatiya Kisan Sangh. Legislator T. Jayaprakash Reddy also participated in the programme and held discussions with factory manager Nagaraju. No farmer supplied sugarcane to the factory, claimed BKS leader Ch. Dayanand Reddy. He also said that they were ready to supply sugarcane to factories in other States if the management failed to meet their demand.
