Check: Chairman of the Estimates Committee of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly K. Anbazhagan and committee members tasting the food at the noon meal centre of Government High School at Kandiyur in Thiruvaiyaru taluk on Tuesday. THANJAVUR: The Estimates Committee of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly headed by K. Anbazhagan, Kuttalam MLA has assured to recommend to the Government to construct modern buildings for Rajah Mirasudhar Government Hospital in Thanjavur. The committee members gave this assurance to the doctors after they visited the hospital on Tuesday as part of their inspection in Thanjavur district on health programmes and their implementation. They visited Rajah’s Government Higher Secondary School in the palace complex. There, teachers and students made a demand for the construction of ten additional class rooms and laboratories for the school. The committee members assured to recommend to the Government for providing the needed facilities. The committee chairman was accompanied by members A. Soundarapandiyan (Lalgudi MLA), Vidiyal Sekar (Kangeyam), Asan Ali (Ramanathapuram), T. Ramasamy (Srivilliputhur). Earlier in the day, the committee visited Thiruvaiyaru area and saw programmes related to school education, Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation and revenue. They visited fair price shops at Achanur and Kaduveli panchayat near Vaidyanathanpettai and checked whether quality products were being given to ration card holders. They also checked the stock position. They also enquired with the people whether they had any grievance. At Thiruvaiyaru Taluk Office they checked the implementation of social security schemes, old age pension. They distributed house site pattas to five persons. They checked the civil supplies godown at Thiruvaiyaru. They also visited the Primary Health Centre at Nadu Cauvery. They saw the construction of a thirty-bed hospital. At Kandiyur they inspected the noon meal centre. Later they held discussions with officials at the Collectorate. They were accompanied by Collector M. S. Shanmugham, Sivaji, Joint registrar of Co-operatives, M. Karunakaran, District Revenue Officer, V. Kumar, Chief Education officer during the visit.
