PUDUCHERRY: Second Additional District Judge E.M.K.S. Siddharthar on Tuesday directed the territorial administration to pay a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh to the family of a person who died in Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital on July 25, 1998 due to negligence Balan, a resident of Nallavadu, who was being treated in the post operative ward of the hospital, died due to negligence of staff. There were no adequate staff in the ward to attend to the patient, the Judge said in the order. He urged the Health Department to pay the amount to the wife and children of the deceased.
