Tushar Aggarwal prevails

NOIDA: Tushar Aggarwal defeated Deepanshu Sharma 22-20, 15-21, 21-17 in the under-16 boys’ quarterfinals of the fourth Pramod Mhajan Delhi State-ranking badminton tournament at the Noida Sports Complex, Sector-21, here on Tuesday.

The results: Boys: Under-19 (quarterfinals): Deepak Sharma bt Prateek 21-10, 21-16; Bhaskar Chakraborty bt Sarmukh Singh 21-8, 21-7.

Under-16 (quarterfinals): Yash Nain bt Sahil Gupta 21-5, 21-7; Abhilash Sharma bt Utkarsh Arora 21-11, 21-15; Ankit Chitkara bt Rishabh Sahdev 21-16, 21-19; Tushar Aggarwal bt Deepanshu Sharma 22-20, 15-21, 21-17. Under-10 (semifinals): Kartikey bt Abhay 21-9, 21-12; Anmol Khosla bt Suraj Negi 21-5, 17-21, 21-16.

Women (quarterfinals): Shreya Aggarwal bt Deepisha Solanki 21-3, 21-12; Mohita Sahdev bt Shambavi Bajaj 21-11, 21-10; Nidhi Tiwari bt Grishma Anand 21-15, 21-10.

Girls: Under-19 (quarterfinals): Shreya Aggarwal bt Shambavi Bajaj 21-14, 21-7; Ananya Nagar bt Rashmeet Kaur 21-15, 10-21, 21-10; Nidhi Tiwari bt Gauri Asija 21-3, 21-5.

Under-16 (quarterfinals): Gauri Asija bt Sanskriti Chhabra 21-11, 21-13; Ananya Nagar bt Yamini Kulesh 21-8, 21-13; Rashmeet Kaur bt Rajni Rawat 21-15, 21-9; Shambavi Bajaj bt Noor Chatwal 21-16, 21-19.

Ravi Rathore shines

Five goals by Ravi Rathore powered Cavalry Black to a 9 goals to 4-1/2 victory over Horse and Wagon in a pool ‘B’ league match of the Manjeet Bhullar Cavalry Gold Cup 10-goal polo tournament at the Army Equestrian Centre, Delhi Cantonment, on Tuesday.

Tarun Sirohi (2) and Vishal Chauhan (2) accounted for the other goals for the winner. Adhiraj Singh and Buchi Prakash scored two goals each for the loser which had started with a 1/2 goal handicap advantage.

Tiger/Navy/ASC will be the third team in pool ‘B’, whereas pool ‘A’ will feature four teams, Carysil Cowboys, Jaipur Polo Company, Cavalry White and Sahgal Stud/Tiger.

Asia u-16 basketball

Twelve countries, including Asian giants China and Japan, will take part in the inaugural edition of the FIBA-Asia under-16 championship for girls, to be held at the Balewadi Sports Complex, Pune, from November 30 to December 6.

The teams have been divided into two groups. India is placed in Pool A along with China, Chinese Taipei, Singapore, Philippines and Hong Kong. The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) has shortlisted 26 players for the preparatory camp.

Kunal shines

Kunal Bhatia scored 14 points as Gyan Bharti School defeated Government School (Saket) 29-24 in the Daulat Ram memorial basketball tournament here on Tuesday.

Other results: New Green Field School (Saket) bt Green Field School (Safdarjung) 32-23; Laxman Public School bt Bal Bharti Public School (Rajender Nagar) 32-27; Blue Bell’s International School bt Amity International School (Saket) 29-20.

Easy for Delhi PS

Delhi Public School (Vasant Kunj) beat St. Columba’s School 7-3 in the ONGC Cup Hind Kishore football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday.

Tanuj Gulati, Shashwant and Kisley scored a brace each, while Supuny netted one goal for the winning side. Roshan (2) and Mervin were the scorers for St. Columba’s.

In another match, Vasant Valley School rode on Udai Chawla’s strike to pip Hansraj Model School (Paschim Vihar) 1-0.
