EXCELLENT: BHEL Executive Director A.V.Krishnan presenting the ‘Wonder Kid Award’ to Master Bernett Orlando at a function organised by Rotary Club of Tiruchirapalli on Tuesday. . — TIRUCHI: The Rotary Club of Tiruchi honoured Bernett Orlando, a IX standard student of St.James Matriculation Higher Secondary School, with “Wonder Kid Award’, for winning blindfolded the 5x5x5 Professor Cube (a bigger version of Rubik’s Cube) world championship. A.V.Krishnan, Executive Director of BHEL, who presented the award to Orlando at a function organised by the Club on Monday, appreciated the unique talent of the boy. Orlando also thrilled the audience through a live performance. R.Kalaichelvan, president of the Club, who presided over the function, said that Orlando held 26 national records and six Asian records. The prodigy can solve the cube blindfolded and single-handedly. He was trained by his father John Louis, a Cube Grandmaster. Mr Kalaichelvan pointed out that former President A.P.J.Abdul Kalam congratulated the boy on his achievements who has now become the ambassador for World Vision Project in Germany. A.Alagappan, club secretary, and several dignitaries, felicitated Bernett at the function.
