Cadaver kidney transplant performed

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Government Kilpauk Hospital has now become the third State-run hospital in the city to perform cadaver kidney transplants. The transplantation was done on a 42-year-old man, who had been undergoing dialysis there for the last two years, said hospital Dean V. Kanakasabai.

The kidneys of a road traffic accident victim, G. Muthuvel (45), admitted to the Government General Hospital, were harvested after he was certified ‘brain dead.’
