280 students take part in Ramana Sath Sangam recitation competition

TIRUCHI: The inter-school competitions for students on recitation of ‘Sri Arunachala Akshara Manamalai’ and ‘Upadesa Undhiyar,’ organised by the Sri Ramana Sath Sangam on Sunday drew a good response with the participation of about 280 students from 40 schools in and around Tiruchi.

The contests were held in four categories – for higher secondary, high, middle and primary school students.

The following were the top three prize winners in the contests – Arunachala Akshara Manamalai recitation: Higher Secondary – S. Gayathri, A. Jegadeeswari, both Savithri Vidyasala HSS, and C. Nivedha, Seva Sangam Girls HSS. High School – B. Priyadarshini, SM Higher Secondary School, A. Padma Mira and R. Keerthana, both Ramakrishna Vidyalaya Matriculation School. Middle School – C. Ramya, Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidyalaya, S. Sai Lalitha, Sri Akilandeswari Vidyalaya and S. Chithra, S. M. HSS Primary School – R. Sangavi, V. Sofiya, both Ramakrishna Vidyalaya HSS and Rihana Begum, Sri Kanchi Sankara Vidyalaya.

‘Upadesa Undhiyar’ recitation: Higher Secondary – S. Gayathri, A. Jegadeswari, both SVS HSS and V. Ramalinga, Seva Sangam Girls HSS. High School – R. Kannan, Boiler Plant HSS, M. S. Abinaya, Ramakrishna Vidyalaya and B. Priyadarshini, SM HSS. Middle School – J. Nazmia Parveen, Subbiah Middle School, R. Gayathri, Kamakoti Vidyalaya and T. Sathya, Ramakrishna Vidyalaya Primary School – Adithya Sivasankar, Akilandeswari Vidyalaya, A. Hariharan, Kanchi Sankara Vidyalaya and S. Sivarajan, Sakunthala Nursery School.

The winners were presented with shields, certificates, books and compact discs by K. Meena, Principal, Shrimathi Indira Gandhi College, in the presence of T. M. Srinivasan, president of the sangam.
