MADURAI: The Madras High Court Bench here on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to V.P. Pandi alias ‘Attack’ Pandi (32) in a case of abduction, robbery and attempt-to-murder registered against him by the Teppakulam police here. Justice Raja Elango ordered to release the petitioner in the event of his arrest following a petition filed by the accused pleading innocence. The petitioner is now the chairman of Madurai District Agricultural Marketing Committee. The case was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by Veeranan of Vadipatti who claimed to have been abducted by Pandi and 10 others. He was supposedly relieved of 2.5 sovereigns of jewellery, two mobile phones and Rs.25,000.
