Driver held on rape charge

CHENNAI: Sembium police on Tuesday arrested a driver from Perambur on charges of raping a 16-year-old girl. Police sources said the apprehended Rahul alias Raghavendran (20) of Periyapalayathamman Koil Street in Madamma Nagar was in love with the girl. On Saturday, he had picked up the victim in a car and had raped her inside after parking the vehicle in an isolated location, police added. Following a complaint lodged by the girl’s father, Sembium police registered a case and arrested Rahul.
