Gang loots Rs. 20,000 from sand quarry office

TIRUCHI: A gang reportedly looted cash kept inside a makeshift office at a sand quarry in Mahendramangalam near Thottiyam in the district after allegedly lobbing country bombs in the early hours on Tuesday.

The cashier and three others were reportedly asleep inside the thatched shed when they heard a noise.

The gang members who were said to have come by foot had lobbed a couple of country bombs and scared the occupants into fleeing the scene.

According to the complaint, the gang made good its escape with Rs. 20,000 cash kept in the table drawer.

The police have registered a case of robbery.
