Man wants daughter’s body to be exhumed

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Bangalore Rural Police have sought permission to exhume the body of 18-year-old girl who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her house in Muddanayanakahalli near Devanahalli on November 6.

The police, on receiving a complaint from her father, have sent a request to the Assistant Commissioner of Bangalore Rural District for exhumation and an autopsy conducted to ascertain the cause of death.

Pratibha, a college dropout, had fallen ill and was hospitalised. On November 5, Muniyappa, the father, was advised by four persons to perform a puja. She was discharged later in the evening.

Mr. Muniyappa, in his complaint to the Vishwanathapura police on Monday, said the four along with a tantrik had performed a “torture ritual” on Pratibha in the presence of her parents and instructed her to drink milk laced with a “powdery substance”.

Her body was later found in a sump.

Mr. Muniyappa has lodged a complaint against Dasappa, Krishna, Narayanaswamy and Muniyappa of Muddanayakanahalli, accusing them of sacrifice rituals in the hope of finding a treasure.
