BERHAMPUR: Vigilance officials on Wednesday arrested Manoranjan Khatua, a junior Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) of Orissa posted at Girisola interstate checkgate at Andhra-Orissa border in Ganjam district on the charge of amassing disproportionate assets worth more than Rs. 3 crores. He was sent to Jharpada jail as his bail plea was rejected. The officials of the special vigilance cell raided the office of the junior MVI at Girisola, his rented house in Berhampur, his own house in Puri and his father-in-law’s house in Cuttack. His deposits in private finance companies, mutual funds and shares were worth more than Rs. 2 crores. He also had bank deposits worth more than Rs. 15 lakhs. His house in Puri was worth more than Rs. 16 lakhs.
