CREATIVE STROKES: Visitors at ‘Panchamukhi’, an exhibition of paintings, which began at Kasthuri Sreenivasan Art Gallery in the city on Wednesday. — Coimbatore: Panchamukhi, an exhibition of paintings by five women from Chennai, was inaugurated at the Kasthuri Sreenivasan Art Gallery on Wednesday. The artists are Asma Menon, Lakshmi Srinath, Manisha Raju, Razia Tony and Thejo Menon. Through their distinct and determined styles, they have explored themes like Nature, spirituality and the female form. The exhibition was inaugurated by Kavitha Varadaraj, Chairperson of the FICCI Ladies Organisation, Coimbatore. Soon after the lighting of the lamp, Ms. Tony, who is also a teacher of fine arts at Stella Maris College, Chennai, gave a beautiful recital of the Saraswati Vandana. This was followed by a reading from John Steinbeck’s The Affair at 7 Rue de M—. The spellbinding rendition was given by Shankar of the Madras Players. The artists have worked on interesting mediums like wood. Thread and other fibres have been used for texture. The exhibition has a lot to offer in colour, patterns and dimensions. There is something for everyone, with prices ranging from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 75,000. The exhibition will be on up to November 29 from 9.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. The artists will meet the public from 10.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The gallery can be contacted at 0422 2574110.
