Police equipped to tackle terrorism: Bidari

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Bangalore City Police are taking all possible measures to enhance internal security in the city and are fully equipped to respond to any situation, Commissioner of Police Shankar Bidari told presspersons at his office here on Wednesday.

The department has procured heavy weapons like AK-47, SLRs, bullet-proof jackets and helmets for use in countering any terror attack.

The Centre stationed a battalion of commandos from the Indian Army in the city. An elite force culled from the City Armed Reserve consisting of 200 personnel is being constituted.

The intelligence wing of the city police is primed to keep a watch on the movements of those suspected to have links with terrorist organisations. Security measures in vital installations, commercial and industrial establishments have been stepped up after consultations with officials concerned, he said.
