Regular meetings planned

COIMBATORE: The micro and small enterprise facilitation council is likely to meet once a month here to settle the payment disputes of micro and small-scale units.

S. Asokan, General Manager of the District Industries’ Centre, told The Hindu that the council met here on November 20 and 21 and heard 83 cases. Any micro or small-scale unit that had problems of delayed payments from its buyer could send a representation to the council. According to the MSME Development Act, any representation should be cleared in 90 days. The council would try to settle most of the cases through conciliation.

With increasing number of representations from the micro and small units on payment problems, it was proposed to hold the meeting once a month.

Mr. Asokan said that at the recent meeting, of the 83 cases involving Rs. 1.79 crore, 11 cases (Rs. 7.12 lakh) were fully settled, 56 were adjourned and 11 were reserved.The next meeting was likely on December 4.
