VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakha Container Terminal Pvt. Ltd. (VCTPL) on Thursday commissioned state-of-the- art CC TV surveillance system coinciding with the first anniversary of Mumbai terror attacks. Some Rs.30 lakhs was spent on installing 166 CC TV cameras. Six out of them are wireless IP based Pan, Tilt and Zoom (PTZ) cameras, which can move 360 degrees and tilt 180 degrees with 36-x zoom with definition. PTZ cameras are fitted at a height of 40 metres on the high-mast lights stations to cover large area and can identify persons, objects from nearly one km distance during day and night for the reason that they are fitted with high class zoom facility. Other wired cameras are fitted at various places for intensive monitoring. Commissioning the cameras, Capt. Ravi Chander, COO of VCTPL, said the management was committed to security and safety. He said they were trying for ISO 28000:2007 certification. He thanked Arya Communication for designing the sophisticated system for better access control, peripheral surveillance and coast monitoring.
