Three held
KRISHNAGIRI: Three persons were arrested in connection with the forced marriage of a minor girl on Wednesday.
It is alleged that the victim was forced to marry her paternal uncle on Tuesday at a temple in Silibilimangalam.
The victim was beaten up when she tried to resist the marriage. She was taken to the Primary Health Centre in Kakkadasam village by her mother and paternal uncle, where she narrated the incident to the doctor who referred her to the Government Hospital in Denkanikottai.
Instead of going to the hospital went to Denkanikottai Police Station and lodged a complaint.
On the basis of her complaint, police have registered a case and arrested three persons in this connection. She was later sent to the Salem Government Hospital for treatment.
