PATHANAMTHITTA: Minister for Transport Jose Thettayil has said that the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will start a special bus service to Palani in Tamil Nadu from its seasonal depot at Pampa soon. He was reviewing the arrangements made by the corporation for the smooth conduct of the annual Mandalam-Makaravilakku festival during a visit to Pampa in the foothills of Sabarimala on Thursday. Mr. Thettayil said the corporation would start 10 more Ananthapuri services, besides the existing 20 services. He said the Motor Vehicles Department had been directed to monitor and regulate the parallel service between Kumily and Pampa following reports of pilgrims being fleeced by private jeep operators. New busesMr. Thettayil said the KSRTC had pressed into service a number of new buses for the Sabarimala special service and the comforts and convenience of the pilgrims on long-distance routes had been taken care of. He said the corporation had made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth commuting between Pampa and various places across the State during the pilgrim season. Mr. Thettayil visited the KSRTC bus station at Pampa and the U-Turn on the Pampa parking ground and Nilackal, oversaw the accommodation provided for the staff on special duty and inspected the canteen.
