Mini Vidhana Soudha at Shiggaon in Haveri district inaugurated Till date, the State has utilised Rs. 1,020 crore under the MGREGA, says Shettar Shiggaon (Haveri district): Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has said that the State Government will build three lakh houses in two years for the poor. Addressing a public gathering after inaugurating the Mini Vidhana Soudha at Shiggaon in Haveri district on Thursday, Mr. Yeddyurappa said the Government would work towards making all villages in the State “free of huts” in the next two years. Referring to the relief provided to the people of flood-hit villages, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar said the BJP Government was the “quickest” in providing relief and compensation to the affected people. In fact, in several areas the disbursement of compensation had already been completed. Mr. Shettar said that till November, Rs. 1,020 crore had been utilised under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act and the Centre was expected to provide another Rs. 1,000 crore under the scheme to the State. On the occasion the Chief Minister was honoured by the Shiggaon Town Municipal Council and Chief Minister honoured Shankaragouda Patil and his wife who donated land for the construction of the Mini Vidhana Soudha. Chairman of Malaprabha Command Area Development Authority Somanna Bevinamarad, MLAs Nehru Olekar, Sureshgouda Patil and Shivanna, MLC Shivaraj Sajjanar, Deputy Commissioner H.G. Shrivar, Zilla Panchayat president Sharada Hadimani and others were present.
