The maternity block will have a separate entry and exit The total cost of the project is around Rs. 10 crore Coimbatore: A nearly 14,000 sq ft full-fledged maternity ward has been planned at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and the site for the same was identified and inspected on Tuesday. Director of Tamil Nadu Health System Project and Project Director of Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society S. Vijaykumar along with project consultant Dr. S. Kamatchi, retired Director of Medical Services Education, Dean of CMCH, V. Kumaran, Resident Medical Officer, P. Sivaprakasam, Dr. Sudanthiradevi, Head of the Department of Gynaecology and others inspected the site and discussed the plan for constructing the maternity ward. The building would have all facilities and infrastructure built in within the same block, such as gynaecology and obstetrics and emergency care for women. The maternity block would have a separate entry and exit providing a secluded place for the women visiting. The total cost of the project is expected to be around Rs. 10 crore. The officials also discussed the need for taking up the drainage work to improve the hygiene and sanitary conditions in the hospital.
