Woman ULFA militant held in Sibsagar

SIBSAGAR: A woman militant of the banned ULFA was arrested in Assam’s Sibsagar district on Thursday.

Mina Gogoi, 38, was arrested by the Army at Sonari while she was trying to sneak into the State from Nagaland carrying five kg of explosives and a pistol for being used in the State on Friday, when the ULFA observes ‘protest day,’ the police said.

It was on November 27 in 1991, the army operation was first launched against the outfit.

Another ULFA militant Rupam Bora alias Ujjal Bora was arrested in Sonitpur district. — PTI
