MADURAI: A 54-year-old woman implicated as an accused in a murder case registered by the Ambasamudram police in Tirunelveli has filed a writ petition in the Madras High Court Bench here to transfer the investigation to the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID). Justice M. Jeyachandran on Thursday ordered notice to Tirunelveli Deputy Inspector General of Police P. Kannappan, who was accused of including the petitioner as an accused allegedly due to previous enmity. Notices were also ordered to the Home Secretary and other police officers. The woman claimed that her husband (since dead) was tortured by Mr. Kannappan during his tenure as Tirunelveli Superintendent of Police in 2001. A complaint was also lodged with the State Human Rights Commission in that regard. This rivalry was the reason for including the petitioner in the murder case, she said.
