Kochi: The play ‘Antigone’, adapted by theatre director Satyadev Dubey from Jean Anouilh’s adaptation of Sophocles’ classic tragedy, will be staged by actor Naseeruddin Shah-led Motely Theatre at Jtpac here on Friday at 7 p.m. Depicting the conflict between an individual and a very oppressive regime, Anouilh’s ‘Antigone’ tells the story of Oedipus’ daughter Antigone, who invites the wrath of her uncle and king Creon by defying his edict to bury the dead body of her rebel brother Polyneices. Motely Theatre has staged the play at 30 venues so far. The cast of ‘Antigone’ include Benjamin Gilani, Akash Khurana, Divya Jagdale and Trisha Patel besides Naseeruddin Shah, his wife Ratna Pathak and daughter Heeba.
