ESI card camp

Coimbatore: A trial camp for capturing the biometric particulars of persons insured under the ESI scheme and their family members will be organised at Perundurai from November 28 to December 4 at the PSG Mills Compound for the employees of M\S Senthil Tex and M\S Narayana Exports.

According to a release from U. Rajendran, Assistant Director, Public Relations, ESI, all insured persons and their family members under ESI scheme are issued a smart card throughout the country.

Preparatory works for issuing such a card are now under way in Tamil Nadu also.

In Coimbatore sub-region, comprising Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur and the Nilgiris districts, impetus is given for collection of smart card declaration forms.

Data of about four lakh insured persons and their family members are being collected by the ESI Corporation for the issuance of smart cards.

In various ESIC regions, camps are being organised for capturing biometric details of insured persons and their family members.

After the trial camp is completed at Perundurai, camps will be organised for all insured persons of Coimbatore sub-region.

In addition, permanent registration camps will be set up at ESIC branch offices for capturing biometric details of insured persons.

Those who are unable to register in the camp need not worry as the current identification card will be valid until further notice, the press release added.
