COIMBATORE: Coimbatore Tidel Park will start allotting space to applicants on a first-come-first-served basis from next week. An official of the park told The Hindu that 3 lakh sq.ft. of IT (Information Technology) space would be ready by the end of December this year. Bookings for occupancy started on November 18 and the allotments would start next week. The response was good so far with enquiries coming from core IT companies and IT Enabled Services (ITES) companies. The official said the Tidel Park coming up at the Special Economic Zone in Peelamedu here would have 17 lakh sq.ft. built up area, including 9 lakh sq.ft of IT space. The car park area would be 6 lakh sq.ft. and the utility block would be 1 lakh sq.ft. The ground and first floor with 3 lakh sq.ft. of IT space and 1 lakh sq.ft commercial space would be ready by January 1, 2010. An occupant would have to take a minimum of 5,000 sq.ft. The warm shell would be available on short-term (three years) and long-term lease (15 years). The organisation had announced an offer of one-time payment of Rs. 3,600 per sq.ft. for the long-term lease. The total project cost was Rs. 380 crore and more than 50 per cent of the cost had been invested. The remaining IT space would be completed in phases, he said. Some of the special features at the park were: thermal energy storage system, integrated building management system, water recycling facility, and an auditorium. The integrated building management system for utilities would have access control for the personnel and vehicles. The park would have about 12,000 IT professionals and 2,000 service providers. The system would ensure safety and security, he said. The diesel generators, chillers and transformers were also ready. The advantages for a company starting operations at the park here were saving on manpower cost and the tax benefits (long-term), he added.
