Bijapur: The District Health Department will distribute free medicines from December 11 for people who have symptoms of elephantiasis. The zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer K.H. Kaknur instructed the Health Department officials to form separate task force committees in every taluk to monitor proper distribution of medicines as the district has recorded 728 cases of elephantiasis in the five taluks. The officers should provide free medicines to 1,32,0516 persons during the programme. Mr. Kaknur said that on December 11, medicines will be distributed at the camps organised by the Health Department and on December 12 and 13, separate teams of anganwadi teachers, school teachers and Health Department officials will launch a door-to-door campaign.
