Four arrested on robbery charge

They robbed a man of Rs. 6,000, mobile phone and gold ring, say police


MYSORE: The Lashkar police have arrested four persons, including two women, on the charge of robbing a resident of Keralapura in Hassan district near KSRTC bus-stand here on Thursday.

The police gave the names of the arrested as Nagesha (30) of Ramanathapura in Hassan district, Kumar (25) of Gavadagere in Hunsur taluk, Baby (18) and Jayamma (40) of Maragowdanahalli in K.R. Nagar taluk.

According to the police, Baby reportedly stopped Manjunath (40) who was driving to Mysore in his car near a bakery in K.R. Nagar town in the wee hours of Thursday and sought lift to Mysore stating that her mother was unwell.

An unsuspecting Manjunath obliged and on reaching Mysore, she told him to drop her at a hotel near the bus-stand. On reaching the place, three others arrived at the spot on two motorcycles. The four forcibly took Manjunath to a narrow bylane and robbed him of Rs. 6,000 in cash, a mobile phone and a gold ring. They fled the place in his car, threatening him not to inform the police.

Following a complaint by Manjunath, the police arrested the four accused on Hunsur-K.R. Nagar road around 3 p.m. on Thursday.

The V.V. Puram police have arrested four persons on the charge of attempting to rob motorists, near a school in V.V. Puram on Thursday.

On receiving information that a few youth with weapons had gathered near a petrol station on KRS Road in the night allegedly to rob motorists, a police team rushed to the spot. However, on seeing the police, the youth fled. The police chased them and arrested four persons. They were identified as Vignesh (20), Naveen (21) and Devaraj (19), all residents of Hinkal; and Jayaprakash (24) of Vijayanagar,
